Panthers Place Defenseman On Waivers
The Florida Panthers have placed Olli Juolevi on waivers.
Florida acquired Juolevi from the Vancouver Canucks last October. With the Panthers this season, he has played in just 10 games, where he failed to record a single point. The 2016 fifth overall pick was trying to cement himself a permanent spot in the NHL with his change of scenery, but it's clear that this just isn't happening with the Panthers.
With Juolevi still being 23 years old, it will be interesting to see if teams around the league take a shot on him. The former top prospect just hasn't been able to blossom into the top-four defenseman he was predicted to become. In 33 career games between the Canucks and Panthers, he has two goals, one assist, and a minus-1 rating.
Juolevi has a $750,000 cap hit, so he certainly is a very cheap option for a team looking to add more depth on their blue line. Furthermore, he could be an alluring option to a rebuilding team, too. Alas, let's see if he has a new home on Sunday. If not, he will report to the Charlotte Checkers.
