Senators Acquire Goaltender From Flames
The Ottawa Senators have acquired Michael McNiven from the Calgary Flames in exchange for future considerations.
McNiven was just traded to the Flames from the Montreal Canadiens earlier this month, but his time with the organization is already coming to a close before he even made an NHL appearance with the club.
McNiven is expected to provide the Senators with more goaltending depth from here. There's a good chance that he will stay put in the AHL following this move, but he will be a worthy call-up candidate if injuries arise in goal for the team.
McNiven got his first taste of the NHL earlier this season with Montreal but struggled. On seven shots against, he allowed three goals, so he has a career .571 SV% and 9.00 GAA. If called up, he will be looking to rebound.
