Senators Sign Goalie To Extension
Anton Forsberg was viewed as one of the top goaltender rentals on the market. However, any chance of him being dealt have now been erased, as he has signed a three-year, $8.25 million contract extension with the Ottawa Senators.
Forsberg has emerged as a legitimate goaltender in the NHL this season and has been the best that Ottawa has. In 31 appearances, he sports a 14-12-2 record, 2.77 GAA, and .918 SV%. Due to this, Senators fans have made it clear that they wanted the 29-year-old to stick around. With this extension, he will be doing just that.
Although Forsberg won't be on the move, there should be several Senators finding new homes by the trade deadline. They already have moved Nick Paul and have multiple other pending UFAs who should be moved. We will see what else they do from here, but it's a big win that they have managed to keep Forsberg.
In 87 career games between the Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago Blackhawks, Carolina Hurricanes, and Senators, Forsberg has a 29-41-7 record, 3.05 GAA, and .908 SV%.
