Sharks Head Coach Blasts Refs Over 'Disastrous Blown Call' in OT
San Jose Sharks head coach Bob Boughner was a great teammate and someone who was tough as nails as a player and now as a head coach he's someone who has his team's back no matter what. On Sunday night against the Anaheim Ducks, the division rivals went to overtime and to say Boughner wasn't happy with how things turned out would be a severe understatement.
With only 14 seconds left in the extra frame, Ducks forward Rickard Rakell scored to win the game. Boughner didn't mince words after the game:
It's a complete, disastrous blown call, too many men all day long. The thing that pisses me off the most is they don't even come over to the bench. They race off the ice, (don't even have) the respect to come and explain it
For those who didn't catch the game, Rakell changed from the far door as Adam Henrique wasn't quite off the ice yet and went in all along to bury the winner. It was an old trick from Ducks head coach Dallas Eakins, who apparently learned the move from his father who was a lacrosse coach.
Good Goal or Offside?
Anaheim’s coach Dallas Eakins grew up around lacrosse (his dad was the trainer for the Peterborough Lakers) and this change is right out of the pages of that sport. https://t.co/K0KkbyMFzI
