Stars Sign Top Forward To Extension
It was already reported that the Stars and Pavelski were aiming to get an extension done. Although they aren't locked to make the playoffs this season, the veteran forward made it clear that he wanted to stick around. Thus, his name had fallen out of the rumor mill and an extension was expected. Now, it's official.
Although Pavelski is having the best campaign of his long career, he is actually going to have a smaller cap hit for next season. He currently has a $7 million cap hit, but that of course is now set to change after this year is done. This is a nice win for the Stars.
In 56 games on the campaign, Pavelski has 22 goals, 37 assists, and a plus-14 rating. With this kind of production, the Stars have to be ecstatic to have the veteran forward around for another year.
