Vancouver Canucks Sign WHL Leading Scorer
The Vancouver Canucks have signed Arshdeep Bains to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Bains is currently playing for the Red Deer Rebels and having himself an excellent campaign. In 55 games, the 21-year-old winger has 27 goals and a league-leading 55 assists. With that, his 82 points are also tied for the league-lead, too.
Although Bains is an older player in juniors, one should not ignore how well he is currently playing. It is clear that he is gifted offensively, so it will be intriguing to see if he is able to translate this kind of success to the professional level. There's certainly no harm in the Canucks taking a chance on him, either. In fact, one could argue that this is the kind of move they should be making.
Once Bains officially joins the team, he will likely begin his professional career with their AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks. He is now the team's newest prospect, and it's hard to find much to complain about regarding it.
