Video: Nathan MacKinnon and Matt Dumba Drop The Gloves
It was a rare sight on Sunday night as an intense game between the Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche brought us a fight we never expected. Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon dropped the gloves with Wild defenseman Matt Dumba in a middle-weight bout.
It all started in the early parts of the third period as the Wild were up 1-0. Mikko Rantanen was trying to rush into the offensive zone and Dumba stood him up with an open-ice check. The hit did look a touch high, which is likely what pissed off MacKinnon who has one of the shortest tempers in the league.
A third-period fight is very uncommon in the NHL however when you have two rivals going at it and one of the best players on the ice gets laid out, these are the things that can happen. Enjoy the scrap:
