Wild Sign Defenseman To Extension
The Minnesota Wild have signed Alex Goligoski to a two-year, $4 million contract extension.
Goligoski's soon-to-be $2 million cap hit is significantly lower than his current $5 million cap hit. Thus, the Wild are keeping him around and saving money in the process. That certainly is one major positive about this development.
Goligoski, who is a Minnesota native, is having an impressive first season with the Wild this year. In 58 games, he has two goals, 26 assists, and a wonderful plus-34 rating. With numbers like these, it is easy to understand why the Wild have decided to give him an extension.
Wild general manager Bill Guerin has made it known that he wants to keep much of this year's roster together for next season. With this Goligoski extension, he is only continuing to stay true to his word.
