2 Canadiens Done For The Season
The Montreal Canadiens have announced that Jake Allen and Justin Barron will be out for the rest of the 2021-22 season.
Allen's season is over due to a groin injury. The veteran netminder doesn't need to have surgery on it, though. It's been a hard year for the 31-year-old, as he has dealt with several injuries. In 35 appearances on the campaign, he sported a 9-20-4 record, 3.30 GAA, and .905 SV%. Overall, it wasn't the most dominant of seasons, but his injury trouble played a major role in that.
Barron has an ankle injury, but like Allen, he does not need surgery, either. It's tough to hear that the 20-year-old d-man's season is over, as he has played well in his first few games with Montreal. In five games, he had a goal and an assist. The team acquired him on deadline day from the Colorado Avalanche in the Artturi Lehkonen trade. He has a very bright future ahead of him and could be a top-four defenseman later down the road.
With the Canadiens completely out of the playoff picture, these two should focus on their recoveries. There's no need for them to risk worsening their injuries at this juncture.
