Avalanche Recall Young Defenseman
After a two-game conditioning stint with the Colorado Eagles, Bowen Byram has officially been called up by the Colorado Avalanche.
Byram has not played for the Avalanche since January 10th's contest against the Seattle Kraken. The 2019 fourth-overall pick has been sidelined with lingering concussion issues. Since last season, the 20-year-old has been diagnosed with three of them, so the Avalanche will need to continue being careful with him. Yet, with this development, it's safe to say that the youngster will be back in the lineup very soon.
When healthy this season, Byram looked like he was ready to break out into a top-four d-man. In 18 games thus far, he has five goals, six assists, and a plus-3 rating. Now, in April, he will be aiming to find that magic again and make a big impact on Colorado's postseason run.
Nevertheless, it's nice to see that Byram is continuing to make progress. Once he officially gets back into NHL game action, here's to hoping that he stays in good health from here.
