Bruins Sign Forward To Extension
The Boston Bruins have signed Oskar Steen to a one-way, two-year contract extension. He will have a cap hit of $800,000.
After recording an 11-point campaign in 23 games with the Providence Bruins last season, Steen has taken a step forward in his production this season. In 41 games with Providence, he has 15 goals and 16 assists. With that, he also has seen some time at the NHL level, too, where he has two goals and four assists this campaign.
Perhaps this clear progression is exactly why the Bruins felt confident giving Steen a one-way deal. With this, it seems very likely that the 24-year-old will see more time with the NHL squad next season. Keep in mind, forwards like Curtis Lazar and Anton Blidh are pending UFAs, so roster spots could open up for Steen.
Nevertheless, Steen is a player to watch closely from here. He could be a mainstay in the team's bottom-six if he continues to perform this well from here.
