Capitals To Be Without Superstar
While speaking with reporters, Washington Capitals head coach Peter Laviolette announced that Alex Ovechkin will not be playing in Thursday's game because of his upper-body injury.
With this news, Ovechkin is set to miss his second straight contest. Yet, because the Capitals have already cemented themselves a playoff berth, it seems smart for them to rest their captain until then. The team hasn't ruled him out for their upcoming season finale, but if his regular season is indeed over, it's been another marvelous one. In 77 games on the year, he has 50 goals to go along with 40 helpers.
Nevertheless, we will have to wait and see if Ovechkin will be ready to go by the playoffs. With the Eastern Conference being absolutely stacked, the Capitals will need their superstar healthy to have any chance of making a run.
