Chicago Blackhawks Sign Prospect
The Chicago Blackhawks have signed Ethan Del Mastro to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Del Mastro was selected by the Blackhawks with the 105th-overall pick of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. The 19-year-old defenseman should have Chicago fans excited, as he is having a very good season with the Mississauga Steelheads. In 68 games thus far, he has seven goals to go along with 48 points. Thus, there is reason to believe that he has offensive upside.
Yet, Del Mastro also brings size and a high degree of grit with his play, too. The 6-foot-4, 206-pound d-man is never easy to go up against and has a whopping 91 penalty minutes with the Steelheads this season, too.
If Del Mastro continues to develop well, he could be a very good NHL defenseman. His offensive skill and tenacity should mix well together. We will have to wait and see when he is ready to arrive for the rebuilding Blackhawks from here.
