Colorado Avalanche Sign Defenseman to Contract Extension
The Colorado Avalanche have announced they have signed bruising defenseman Kurtis MacDermid to a two-year contract extension, worth $987,500 per season. The 28-year-old has been a bright spot for the Avalanche this season and he's been able to play his role perfectly. With all the skill and speed in Colorado, MacDermid plays enforcer and loves to stick up for his teammates with his heavy hands.
The veteran has recorded two goals and five points through 53 games this season and is averaging 7:27 minutes of ice-time per night. While he doesn't play a ton, he's effective in his role and keeps this in check for the Avalanche superstars.

MacDermid has six fights on the season and gets himself some job security for the next couple of seasons with this extension. The 6-foot-5 blueliner will continue to bring toughness to the table and look for him to keep up his duties as the security blanket in Denver.
