Coyotes' Nick Ritchie Suspended For Slashing Ducks' Kevin Shattenkirk
Arizona Coyotes forward Nick Ritchie has been suspended one game by the NHL's department of player safety after he delivered a hefty slash on Anaheim Ducks defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk.
The play happened in Friday's contest which is turning out to be quite the controversial game as there was a number of scrums, fights, and questionable moments. As for Ritchie's slash it occurred at the end of the first period when he and Shattenkirk got mixed up as the horn went. The Coyotes forward checked Shattenkirk into the boards, a quick shove back and next thing you know Ritchie delivered some lumber into the hands.
The Coyotes winger will forfeit $12,500 in salary for this slash, which results in the second suspension of his career, with the last one coming in 2017 when he was banned for two games for roughing:

As for Jay Beagle of the Coyotes, he received nothing for punching out Troy Terry of the Ducks who wanted no part of a fight..

So Nick Ritchie gets suspended but Beagle doesn’t. Make it make sense. https://t.co/SUabHSS0xn
