Ducks Sign Forward To Entry-Level Contract

The Anaheim Ducks have signed Blake McLaughlin to a two-year, entry-level contract. It will begin during the 2022-23 season.

McLaughlin was selected by the Ducks with the 79th-overall pick of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. Since then, he has played four seasons with the University of Minnesota. His best one occurred this campaign, however, as he set career-highs in goals (13), assists (20), and points (33). Now, the 5-foot-11 winger has earned this ELC because of it.

Although the Ducks started this season off hot, they have cooled off noticeably. Furthermore, they are very much still rebuilding and showed that before the deadline when they traded Hampus Lindholm, Rickard Rakell, and Josh Manson. With that, Ryan Getzlaf also is retiring at the end of the season. Thus, they are going to build on their prospect pool from here, and inking McLaughlin is a good way to help with that.

It will be intriguing to see how well McLaughlin develops from here. Perhaps he could find his way on their NHL roster in the near future.
