Flames Forward Done For Season
The Calgary Flames have announced that forward Sean Monahan is set to have season-ending hip surgery.
This is the second time in Monahan's career where he has had surgery on his hip. However, it's also important to note that this time's surgery will be on his other one.
It has been a hard year for Monahan, and he has even been himself healthy scratched lately as a result of it. In 65 games on the year, he has eight goals, 15 assists, and a minus-15 rating. This kind of play is certainly far too low for the 27-year-old's standards, as he is just three years removed from an 82-point campaign in 78 games. Before then, he consistently recorded at least 60 points per season, too.
Although Monahan has struggled this season, losing him right before the playoffs isn't ideal. This takes away any chance of him bouncing back before the year is complete and also negatively impacts their forward depth. Here's to hoping that veteran center will be healthy for the start of the 2022-23 season.
