Islanders Place Defenseman On Waivers

The New York Islanders have placed Grant Hutton on waivers.

Although Hutton has been placed on waivers, the chances of him getting claimed are extremely low. This is because the 26-year-old defenseman would not be able to play with another team for the rest of the season, as we have passed the trade deadline. With that, he is also a pending UFA, so he wouldn't be under team control, either. 

Hutton has played his first 16 NHL games this season with the Islanders. In them, he has one goal to go along with a minus-1 rating. Down in Bridgeport with the team's AHL affiliate, he has nine goals and 10 helpers in 45 contests. Assuming Hutton clears waivers, the AHL squad will certainly be happy to have him back for the rest of the year.
