Jets Sign 2 Prospects
The Winnipeg Jets have signed prospects Henri Nikkanen and Daniel Torgersson to three-year, entry-level contracts. They will begin next season.
Nikkanen just spent this season with the Lahti Pelicans of Liiga. In 60 games with the team, he scored seven goals and added five assists. The 113-overall pick of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft has the potential to be a solid bottom-six forward for Winnipeg in the near future, as his 6-foot-4 size certainly helps his chances.
Torgersson was selected with the 40th-overall pick of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The 20-year-old winger just spent this season with AIK of Sweden, where he had seven goals and 10 assists in 40 games. He's a player who will likely need to spend some time in the AHL. Yet, he has all the tools to become a solid point producer in the NHL later down the road.
Nevertheless, the Jets are now one of the many teams who are signing their prospects for next season. We will have to wait and see how these two end up developing from here.
