Maple Leafs Provide Update Regarding Ondrej Kase
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Ondrej Kase has not played since March 19th's contest against the Nashville Predators. Now, one month later, head coach Sheldon Keefe has confirmed to reporters that the 26-year-old has a concussion.
Although many speculated that Kase suffered a concussion, it is still certainly bad news to hear it being confirmed. The Czech winger has had concussion problems over the years, which includes last season when he was with the Boston Bruins. Furthermore, Keefe has not provided an update on when we could see him return, so it certainly is possible that his year could be done.
If Kase does not return this season, it's still fair to say that he ended up being a very solid addition to the Leafs' roster. After having just one assist in nine games over two seasons with the Bruins, he scored 14 goals and added 13 assists in 50 contests with Toronto. It was a great bounce-back season for him, but unfortunately, this latest concussion has put it on at least pause.
Nevertheless, here's to hoping Kase recovers very soon and is given the green light to play before the season is out.
