Minnesota Wild Sign Prospect
The Minnesota Wild have signed Simon Johansson to a two-year, entry-level contract. It will begin during the 2022-23 season.
The Wild selected Johansson with the 148th-overall pick of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent this June, but the Wild were thankfully able to come to terms with the youngster beforehand. Now, he is officially a part of their prospect pool.
Johansson just completed his first season in Liiga with Ilves. In 58 games with the club, he certainly made an impact, as he had eight goals and 24 assists. This kind of production should certainly provide some optimism to Wild fans. Assuming he can translate over some of this to the NHL, he could eventually become a part of Minnesota's roster. Yet, he likely will need to develop some more before that occurs.
