Islanders Sign QMJHL Leading Scorer
The New York Islanders have signed William Dufour to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Dufour was selected by the Islanders with the 152nd-overall pick of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The Islanders are likely feeling very happy about that selection now, as the 20-year-old is having a career year with the Saint John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL. He currently leads the league in goals (52) and points (109), so he absolutely has gotten the attention of the Islanders.
Once Dufour begins his professional hockey career, he likely will need to spend some time with the Bridgeport Islanders. Yet, the 6-foot-3 winger definitely could blossom into a mainstay in their lineup in the future, and this is especially true if his production translates over the NHL.
Nevertheless, we will have to wait and see how Dufour progresses from here, but it's hard not to feel a bit excited about his arrival.
