NHL Rumors: 3 Potential Landing Spots For Kevin Fiala

The Ryan Suter and Zach Parise buyout penalties are going to cost the Minnesota Wild just under $13 million for the 2022-23 season. As a result of this, they may be forced to trade pending RFA Kevin Fiala. The 25-year-old winger is due for a massive raise, as he is having a career-best season. In 76 games, he has 30 goals to go along with 75 total points. If the team ends up having to move him, here are three potential landing spots for the Swiss forward.

Ottawa Senators: The Senators have had rumored interest in Fiala since before the trade deadline passed. Due to the fact that they are aiming to become a playoff team and have a lot of money to work with, they absolutely could pursue him this offseason. He would be an immediate fit in their top six and provide them with the scoring that they desperately need.

New York Islanders: After the way this season went for the New York Islanders, they should prioritize finding a scoring winger this summer. Although a blockbuster for Fiala would force them to send a sizeable trade package the other way, it would be worth it if they finally landed a top-of-the-line winger for star Mat Barzal.

Detroit Red Wings: Detroit Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman has the team going in the right direction. They have an outstanding cast of young prospects and did take a notable step forward this season. Yet, if they do hope to inch closer to being competitive in the Atlantic Division, it would be huge for them to acquire a player like Fiala. He would truly help solidify their top six, and they have the assets to help a trade go through.
