NHL Rumors: Blackhawks To Shop 2 Star Forwards
According to Scott Powers, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Chicago Blackhawks shop both Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat this summer.
GM Kyle Davidson made it clear that the Blackhawks are rebuilding during the trade deadline and more moves are expected to be on the way. If they want to maximize their future assets, trading Kane and DeBrincat would net them their biggest potential returns. Yet, they also would anger Blackhawk fans in the process.
Kane is entering the final year of his contract. Even at 33 years old, he is still one of the best players in the entire world. In 75 games this season, he has 26 goals to go along with 65 assists. Naturally, if he is made available and willing to waive his NMC, there would be a plethora of teams interested.
DeBrincat will also be in the last season of his contract, but unlike Kane, he will still be an RFA. Yet, the team could still look to trade him with his trade value at its highest. That's what they did with Brandon Hagel, keep in mind. In 79 games this season, the 2016 second-round pick has 40 goals and 76 points in 79 games.
