NHL Rumors: Capitals To Shop Forward This Summer

According to Tarik El-Bashir, the Washington Capitals are expected to test the trade market for Lars Eller this summer.

After this season, Eller will be entering the final year of his contract. If he is officially made available by Washington, there should be a decent amount of teams interested in him. Although his $3.5 million cap hit isn't necessarily cheap, he is well-respected due to his solid defensive play and ability to chip in offensively.

Overall, the 2021-22 season has been another pretty solid one for Eller, as he has 12 goals and 15 assists in 63 games. With numbers like these, he could be a decent fit on a team's third line. However, with the Capitals having players like Connor McMichael and Hendrix Lapierre, moving Eller would allow them to take on bigger responsibilities.

Nevertheless, it will be intriguing to see if Eller finds a new home during this offseason.
