NHL Rumors: Flyers Defenseman Finished in Philadelphia
Keith Yandle is the NHL's iron man, however his historic streak appears to be coming to an end. Entertaining insider and friend of the site, Kevin Weekes is reporting the Flyers are planning to scratch Yandle from Saturday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Barring any changes, I’m told @NHLFlyers D Yandle’s @NHL record Ironman streak of 989 consecutive games played will end tonight. Only 11 games from 1000, with Flyers out of playoff picture this is an odd decision to sit the highly respected veteran. #HockeyTwitter

As Weekes points out, this is certainly an odd decision from the Flyers who are nowhere close to being in post season contention. Yandle's one of the most regarded veterans in the league and this move will certainly piss off a number of people across the NHL.
So far in 67 games in his first season in Philly, the 35-year-old veteran has recorded one goal and 15 total points. He's only 11 games away from playing 1000 straight, a historic figure that's never been done before in the NHL. Shame on the Flyers who have nothing to play for. As Claude Giroux mentioned before his departure, it can't get much worse in Philadelphia.
