NHL Rumors: Predators And Coyotes Almost Made Big Trade

Although Phil Kessel remained a member of the Arizona Coyotes after the trade deadline passed, that almost didn't happen. According to Elliotte Friedman, the Nashville Predators expressed serious interest in the veteran winger.

At this point of the season, the Predators are preparing for the postseason. Yet, even with this being so, they were very quiet at the trade deadline. Although they had a lot of money to work with, GM David Poile elected to play things conservatively and only added Jeremy Lauzon from the Seattle Kraken.

Kessel could have been a strong addition to Nashville's top six if they landed him. The 34-year-old has seven goals and 35 assists this season with the Coyotes, so he certainly is still capable of producing offense.

Nevertheless, it is interesting to hear that the Predators did pursue Kessel at the deadline. However, even with this being so, he will be staying in Arizona for the rest of the year.
