Oilers Sign College Free Agent

The Edmonton Oilers are giving Noah Philp a shot, as they have signed the 23-year-old to a one-year, entry-level contract. It will begin during the 2022-23 season.

After spending four years in the WHL between the Kootenay Ice and Seattle Thunderbirds, Philp committed to the University of Alberta. In two seasons with the school, he had 20 goals and 18 assists in 36 games. He was particularly impressive this season, however, as he had eight goals and three assists in just eight games. With that, he also recorded a ridiculous 10 points in just four playoff contests.

There's certainly nothing wrong with the Oilers giving Philp a chance. The Canmore-native will provide the team with more forward depth in their system. Furthermore, if he impresses with their AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors, he certainly could land himself a call-up later down the road.

Condors fans will have the opportunity to see Philp immediately, however, as he is set to join the Condors for the rest of this season on a tryout contract. Let's see how the 23-year-old does in his first taste of professional hockey action.
