Penguins Sign Prospect To Entry-Level Contract
The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed Lukas Svejkovsky to a three-year, entry-level contract. It will begin during the 2022-23 season.
Svejkovsky was selected by Pittsburgh with the 108th-overall pick of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Although he was a fourth-round pick, the 20-year-old is starting to raise his value as a prospect this season. In 55 games between the Medicine Hat Tigers and Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League, he has 32 goals and 41 assists. This pace of production is the best we have seen from him at the junior level.
Svejkovsky gives the Penguins another solid forward prospect in their system. Although he's a player who likely will require some time at the AHL level before playing for Pittsburgh, he certainly is an intriguing prospect. Perhaps he could become a decent secondary scorer for them later down the road.
Nevertheless, the Penguins are continuing to stay busy. It wouldn't be surprising if Svejkovsky isn't the last prospect who they end up signing before this season is over.
