Penguins Superstar Suspended 4 Games
NHL Player Safety has suspended Evgeni Malkin four games for cross-checking Nashville Predators defenseman Mark Borowiecki.
Malkin's cross-check occurred at the end of the second period during Sunday's contest. He and Borowiecki first got into a scuffle in front of the Predators' net. These kinds of situations naturally occur during the game, but Malkin did take it too far by cross-checking Borowiecki in the face.
One could argue that the length of this suspension is long. Yet, Malkin has been suspended previously and has been fined on several different occasions, too. Thus, that likely played a role in NHL Player Safety's decision.
Nevertheless, do you feel that NHL Player Safety got this one right? Let us know in the comments!
