Sharks Sign Defenseman To Entry-Level Contract
The San Jose Sharks have signed Nick Cicek to a two-year, entry-level contract.
Although this is an ELC for Cicek, he already is a familiar face to the organization. This is because he signed an AHL deal with their affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda, for this season. With that, he's made an immediate impact, as he has five goals, 18 assists, and 60 penalty minutes. He also has even been an alternate captain for a handful of games for the AHL squad, too.
Yet, with this ELC, Cicek can now have the opportunity to fight for a spot on the NHL roster starting next season. That doesn't automatically mean that he will make the team, but when looking at how well he's done in his first professional season, he will likely get some consideration.
Nevertheless, this was a no-brainer move for the Sharks. Let's see if Cicek is on the NHL squad at the start of the 2022-23 season.
