Steven Stamkos Reaches Outstanding New Milestone

During Tuesday night's contest against the Detroit Red Wings, Tampa Bay Lightning captain Steven Stamkos recorded three points. With this, he now has 953 career points and is tied with Martin St. Louis as the franchise's all-time leading scorer.

Selected first-overall by Tampa Bay in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, it's 100% fair to state that Stamkos has reached every single expectation. As captain, he has led the Lightning to two Stanley Cup championships, and there's reason to believe that he could win at least one more before his career is over. With that, he's a two-time Rocket Richard Trophy winner and seven-time All-Star.

Stamkos isn't showing any signs of slowing down, either, as he is still one of the best forwards in the sport. Don't believe me? The truth is in his statistics. In 75 games this campaign, he has 33 goals, 54 assists, and a plus-17 rating.

Alas, it only took Stamkos 916 games to tie St. Louis' record. Soon, he will officially pass the legend and be the sole points leader for the franchise.
