Video: Alex Ovechkin Scores 50th Goal Of Season
During Wednesday's game against the Vegas Golden Knights, Washington Capitals legend Alex Ovechkin scored his 50th goal of the season. This is the ninth time during his spectacular career that he has reached this accomplishment.
Even at 36 years old, Ovechkin is still one of the best players in the entire sport, and the truth is in his stats this season. In 75 games on the year, the future Hall of Famer has the 50 goals to go along with 40 assists. This is the first time where he has hit 40 assists in a season since 2010-11 campaign, too.
However, with this most recent goal, Ovechkin now is at 780 in his career. With this, he only trails Wayne Gretzky by 114 for the most goals of all time. If he has more 50-goal seasons in him, it shouldn't take him much longer to catch the Great One.
