Video: Auston Matthews Makes Toronto Maple Leafs History

Auston Matthews is the greatest Toronto Maple Leaf of all-time and he's just getting started. The superstar sniper continued his goal-scoring tear on Thursday night as Matthews scored his record-breaking 55th goal, breaking the Maple Leafs record held by Rick Vaive for goals in a single season. 'Papi' wasn't done there, potting home his 56th in overtime, sending the Leafs home from Dallas with two points.

The 24-year-old Matthews now sits with 97 points in 66 games and has scored 49 goals in his last 49 games. 50 in 50 would be quite the accomplishment as the Arizona native continues to shatter team records and looks destined for 65 goals this season. The 60-goal mark hasn't been hit in over a decade since Steven Stamkos did so with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
