Video: Avs' Nathan MacKinnon Puts On a Show Vs. Kings
The Colorado Avalanche set a franchise record on Wednesday night with their 53rd win of the season, and for the Los Angeles Kings - talk about being at the wrong spot at the wrong time. The Kings were dominated by the Avalanche 9-3 and it was in large part to Avs superstar Nathan MacKinnon and his five points.
The 26-year-old superstar put on an absolute show against L.A helping Colorado win their seventh straight game and improving to 53-14-6 on the season. The Avalanche are now two points ahead of Florida Panthers for the best record in the NHL, including a franchise-best 29-4-3 on home ice. Head coach Jared Bednar loves what he's seeing from his hockey club of late and had this to say after their latest win:
The crowd was chanting before the anthem even started. You can feel that when you go on the bench as a coach, as a player, that they're into it and they were going to be energized. And we wanted to make sure we came out and played a really good game after having a couple of off games in Winnipeg and Edmonton. I think our guys feel that and that's why our record is so good at home
Along with MacKinnon's hat trick and two assist game, the likes of Valeri Nichushkin had two goals and Cale Makar had a goal and three assists. Here's everything you missed as it was ugly for the Kings from start to finish:
