Video: Hurricanes Frederik Andersen Leaves Game Injured

Carolina Hurricanes netminder Frederik Andersen had to leave Saturday night's game against the Colorado Avalanche with an apparent leg injury, and frankly it didn't look good.

The Danish goaltender could not put any weight on his leg as he left the ice  after catching an edge in the late stages of the contest against the Colorado Avalanche. After the game Hurricanes' head coach Rod Brind'Amour did not have an update and an x-ray and MRI are expected on Sunday. Non-contact injuries certainly make everyone involved hold their breath.

This could be a catastrophic loss for Carolina if this is a serious injury to Andersen. In his first season with the Hurricanes, he's been lights out and poised for what could be a long playoff run with one of the better teams in the league. He's having a Vezina trophy type of season as he's posted a .922 save % throughout his 52 appearances.

The scary stuff is the fact Andersen has a history of knee injuries dating back to last season as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs, when he only played in 24 games in 2021. Here's the play which could put a huge damper in the Hurricanes Stanley Cup bid:
