Video: Rangers Coach Calls His Team "Horses**t" After Awful Loss to Islanders
New York Rangers head coach Gerard Gallant didn't mince words after his team was beat by the New York Islanders on Friday night 3-0. He was not pleased with his team's performance and more specifically the efforts of the entire group.
Gallant spoke to reporters after the game and wasn't shy to point the finger at his defense:
Islanders played a good game. We were horseshit. But at least we do it together as a team. Like the great games we played in Pittsburgh we (did) it as a team. Tonight, (we) get the other side of it. The way we played, we were skating in quicksand all night. You guys see the defensemen. When we move the puck up the ice we're a pretty good team. We start dancing around with it, spinning around with it, turning it over, that's what you get
As Artemi Panarin put it after the game, the Rangers 'dirtied up their pants' out there. It seems like the Rangers have moments like this of late as the team was blasted by Gallant a few weeks ago after leaving goaltender Igor Shesterkin out to dry in a blowout loss to the St Louis Blues.
The Rangers look to get back on track as they'll face off against the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday. The team remains one point up on the Pittsburgh Penguins for second place in the Metropolitan Division.
