Boston Bruins Re-Sign Defenseman To 2-Year Contract

Before heading their separate ways for the summer, the Boston Bruins had a little unfinished business to take care of with defenseman Jakub Zboril, signing him to a 2-year extension with a cap hit of $1.137 million.

Zboril's season was cut short after just 10 games, after tearing his ACL in December and undergoing season-ending surgery. Zboril started the season as the Bruins' 7th defenseman but quickly established himself as a reliable member of the blueline.

He's thrilled that the B's are showing faith in him with the new deal.

"Especially after getting injured, seeing that the team still believes in me, that's a huge deal for me," said Zboril during Monday's player exit interviews. "I showed a lot of confidence in my game, then getting injured was a slap in the face. Hopefully I'll pick up where I left off next year."

"When you get hurt you start to appreciate the little things, like the social interactions in the locker room. I missed out on so much this year, I can't wait to come back and be part of the team on a full-time basis."
