Brutal Injury News For Avalanche
After defeating the St. Louis Blues by a 5-2 final score to take a 2-1 series lead, the Colorado Avalanche received some awful news. Samuel Girard will be out for the rest of the postseason due to a broken sternum.
With this, the Avalanche are losing a pick part of the left side of their defense. This certainly isn't ideal for a team that has "Stanley Cup or bust" expectations this year. Yet, Colorado now has no choice but to move forward without Girard.
Girard's offense from the point will certainly be missed. In 67 regular-season games this year, he had five goals and 23 assists. During the playoffs, he also scored a goal and added two assists in seven games. Yet, this is where his postseason will end. Let's see how the Avalanche perform without their top-four defenseman from here.
