Ducks Prospect Done In Anaheim
It had been rumored that Lucas Elvenes was going to be leaving the Anaheim Ducks organization to head back to Sweden. Now, that has been made official, as the 22-year-old winger has signed a two-year deal with HV71 of the SHL.
Elvenes was actually expected to head to the SHL during the regular season after he was placed on unconditional waivers by the Vegas Golden Knights. Yet, the Ducks surprisingly claimed him, and he spent the rest of the season with their AHL affiliate, the San Diego Gulls. In 63 combined games between the Henderson Silver Knights and Gulls on the year, he had 11 goals and 32 assists.
Overall, Elvenes did have some offensive success in the AHL, as he recorded 115 points in 159 total games. Yet, it was never enough for him to land a call-up with either the Golden Knights or Ducks. Now, that ultimately doesn't matter, as he is heading home to Sweden. Perhaps if he succeeds there, he could get a chance in the NHL later down the road. Time will tell what happens on that front.
