Jets Sign Goalie Prospect

The Winnipeg Jets have signed Oskari Salminen to a two-year, entry-level contract. It will begin during the 2022-23 campaign.

Salminen just put together an excellent season with Jurkurit of the Finnish Liiga. In 55 games on the year, he sported a 29-14-11 record, .920 SV%, and 2.07 GAA. This was a very impressive campaign from the 22-year-old undrafted goalie, and he has landed this ELC from the Jets because of it.

With the Jets having Connor Hellebuyck, it's apparent that Salminen isn't going to be the team's starter any time soon. However, if he can translate his excellent play from overseas to North America, we could be looking at a future NHL-caliber goalie. Thus, there's no true harm in Winnipeg giving him a shot. Let's see how it works for both him and the franchise.
