MacKinnon Scored Highlight Reel Goal (Video)
Nathan MacKinnon finally made his presence known in Round 2 by scoring his first goals of the series after scoring in each of the four games in the first round. He exploded onto the scoresheet with the only two goals of the first period before a spectacular end to end rush with under three minutes to play to complete the hat trick.
This goal put the Colorado Avalanche on top 4-3 after the St. Louis Blues stormed back with three goals to tie the game. Unfortunately for MacKinnon and the Avalanche, they will have to wait until Friday in St. Louis to try and advance to the Conference Finals for the first time in 20 years after their overtime loss.
The Avalanche are going to need more of what MacKinnon brought in the biggest game of the season so far for the team as he is one of the leaders and is needed to produce more than just one assist a game.
It is not the first highlight reel goal MacKinnon has scored in his career and it won't be the last. His blazing speed and powerful strides makes it seem easy to force his way by defending opponents on his way to the net.
This seven-time 20-goal scorer has the abilities that few others possess in this game, and that's why he is regarded by many as one of the best in the world. MacKinnon holds the third spot all-time in points per game in the playoffs by players with over 40 games played behind Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux. That's some pretty good company.
