NHL Rumors: 3 Potential Landing Spots For Robin Lehner
With there being rumblings that the Vegas Golden Knights could end up shopping Robin Lehner this summer, let's look at three teams who should target the veteran netminder.
Detroit Red Wings: The Red Wings appear to be inching closer to moving out of their rebuild. Yet, goaltending is an area that they need to improve if they hope for this to come to fruition. Alex Nedeljkovic struggled in his first season with the team, while Thomas Greiss' contract is set to expire. With all of this, perhaps the Red Wings should call Vegas about Lehner's availability.
Edmonton Oilers: Whenever a goalie is available, it's hard not to envision the Oilers as a potential landing spot for him. Edmonton has goaltending issues that need to be addressed this summer. Mikko Koskinen's atrocious contract will be off the books. Thus, Lehner could provide a bit more stability as the number-one goalie over Lehner. The main obstacle, however, is that the Oilers and Vegas are division rivals.
New Jersey Devils: The Devils will be adding a goalie of some kind this summer. Jonathan Bernier's future appears to be in jeopardy, while Mackenzie Blackwood hasn't looked like the answer in goal for multiple seasons now. Thus, expect New Jersey to target Lehner.
