NHL Rumors: Flyers Head Coach Finished in Philadelphia
The Philadelphia Flyers fell short this season and the consequences are starting to pour down. According to friend of the site, Kevin Weekes, Flyers head coach Mike Yeo is not expected back with the hockey club. Yeo was filling in on an interim basis and word is that's all that will be needed at this time.
Yeo started the season as an assistant coach with the Flyers and was moved into the head coaching role in December 2021 after Alain Vigneault was relieved of his duties. Unfortunately it was much of the same song and dance as Yeo wasn't able to motivate the Flyers to get themselves back on track, finishing the season with a 17-36-7 record.
Yeo is going to find a new home sometime soon as the 48-year-old is one of the good guys in the NHL and has quite the impressive resume. He's held previous positions with the Minnesota Wild and St Louis Blues. As for the Flyers, their next head coach will be their seventh since 2010, joining the Detroit Red Wings and Winnipeg Jets as franchises who are in search of their next bench boss. Wait another two weeks until the first round is over and this list is expected to grow.
