NHL Rumors: Panthers Could Complete Offseason Blockbuster
According to Elliotte Friedman, the Florida Panthers tried to trade Sergei Bobrovsky during the regular season. Although a deal did not come to fruition, this is something they could try again during the offseason.
The primary obstacle that makes trading Bobrovsky challenging is his $10 million cap hit until the end of the 2025-26 season. That is a significant cap hit for several seasons, and it also doesn't help that the Russian netminder is 33 years old. This is where finding him a new home becomes difficult.
With Spencer Knight being the future of the Panthers' net, it isn't surprising that the team has listened to offers for Bobrovsky.
In 54 games this season, Bobrovsky had a 39-7-3 record, 2.67 GAA, and .913 SV%.
