NHL Rumors: Patrice Bergeron Comments On Playing Future
The Boston Bruins were eliminated from the playoffs on Saturday by the Carolina Hurricanes. Following Game 7, Patrice Bergeron was asked about whether he plans to return to the Bruins for an 18th season. In response, the captain said, "Obviously I'm going to have to think about it, but I'm not there right now."
Bergeron is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. There have been rumblings that the future Hall of Famer could finally hang up the skates. Yet, when looking at his skill level, there's no question that he is still an excellent player. Besides being one of the best two-way forward in the game, he put up a 65-point regular season in 73 games this year. With that, he had added seven points during the B's series against Carolina.
We will have to wait and see what happens with Bergeron from here. No matter what he decides, he's put together a hell of a career and has earned the right to retire if he chooses to.
