Penguins Sign Forward To Contract Extension
The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed Bryan Rust to a six-year, $30.75 million contract extension. With this move, the 30-year-old will now not be hitting the free-agent market.
The Penguins have completed one of their biggest offseason to-do list items by re-signing Rust. There certainly was plenty of speculation that the Michigan native would test the open market to get the best contract possible. However, he has now opted to sign this deal to remain a Penguin and at a solid $5.125 million cap hit.
Rust just put together an excellent 2021-22 campaign, as he recorded 58 points in 60 games. Thus, keeping him around was a major priority for Pittsburgh. Now, they have to focus on the futures of Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, Rickard Rakell, Evan Rodrigues, and Kasperi Kapanen.
