Predators Sign Top Goalie Prospect
The Nashville Predators have signed Yaroslav Askarov to a three-year, entry-level contract.
The Predators selected Askarov with the 11th-overall pick of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. He is viewed as having an immense amount of potential. In six games this season with SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL, he had a 1.81 GAA and .913 SV%. If he can translate this kind of play over to the NHL, Nashville could have a dominant one-two punch between him and Juuse Saros.
Askarov may need to spend some time in the AHL before making the permanent jump to the NHL. However, when looking at Nashville's shaky backup goaltenders this year, they could elect to give him a chance immediately.
