NHL Rumors: 2 Flames Defensemen Likely Finished In Calgary
According to Eric Francis of Sportsnet, Flames defensemen Erik Gudbranson and Nikita Zadarov have likely priced themselves out of Calgary.
Gudbranson and Zadarov are each set to become UFAs. With the team having players like Johnny Gaudreau, Matthew Tkachuk, and Andrew Mangiapane to re-sign, it leads very little wiggle room to bring back the two bruising defensemen. Thus, if they are looking to land their solid paydays, they will be hitting the open market.
Gudbranson just put together the best season of his career, as he set new career-highs with six goals, 11 assists, and 17 points in 78 games. Zadarov, on the other hand, also set a new career-high with 22 points in 74 games. Although the Flames would love to keep these two around, it seems more likely than not that their times in Calgary are over.
