NHL Rumors: Barry Trotz Rejects Massive Offer From Flyers
Although John Tortorella is expected to be named head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers, he wasn't the team's first choice. According to Anthony SanFilippo, the Flyers originally offered Barry Trotz a multi-year contract that would have paid him $7 million per season. The 59-year-old opted to reject it.
That is a monstrous contract for Trotz to reject, but the longtime head coach will now continue to test the market elsewhere. One thing to note is he did also buy a house in Nashville this week. Perhaps a reunion of some kind could end up occurring with the Predators?
Friedman on TJMS: “There was a lot of talk about Trotz buying a house in Nashville yesterday… One of the things I did think is if he went into management right now, it might be with the Predators, they would be willing to say if you want to come into management, come join us”

In 1,812 games coached between the Predators, Capitals, and Islanders, Trotz sports a 914-670-60-168 record. Let's see where he ends up improving his impressive resume from here. One thing's for sure - it won't be in Philadelphia.
